23. FLEXIBILIS  // SS 2026

After a year-long break, Acephala returns with a collection inspired by the work of Magdalena Abakanowicz, the latest instalment in a series dedicated to Polish women artists, following projects referencing Alina Szapocznikow, Katarzyna Kobro and Zofia Stryjeńska. The starting point was the spatial forms of the Abakans and the simplicity of the artist’s later jute figures, resulting in a collection that is deeply corporeal and material, grounded in fluidity and the elusiveness of form. Its primary building blocks are layered fabrics, mainly cottons with distinctive weaves and textures, often finished with raw, fraying edges, which largely dictated the final shapes of the garments. Soft lines, rounded volumes, hand draping and the possibility of shaping the clothes with ties and cords make the silhouettes responsive to movement and gesture. Despite its sculptural character, the collection remains wearable, easy to style, comfortable and naturally suited to an everyday wardrobe. In the campaign, we sought to capture the spirit of Abakanowicz’s exhibitions, in which objects assert their presence through form, colour and shifting perspective, while also echoing the artist’s series Crowd, Backs and Ibis.
